Eath day 2023
The 53rd Earth Day was celebrated on 22nd April 2022 at Geological Survey of India, Bhubaneswar premises. Sri K C Sahoo, EC member welcomed and introduced the guests. Besides the members of IGO, dignitaries from OMECL, F M University etc. and officers from GSI, Bhubaneswar participated in the deliberations. Sri Jayanta Kumar Nanda, the newly elected President of IGO presided over the meeting and administered the pledge . Sri Lingaraj Otta, IFS (Retd.) addressed the gathering and delivered a very informative and thought-provoking talk on Invest in our Planet. Dr Saibal Mitra, Deputy Director General, State Unit Odisha, GSI was the Guest of Honour on the occasion. He emphasized on the importance of Earth Day. Prof T K Biswal, IIT, Bombay and Sri Sinha, OMECL also expressed their concern on deteriorating environment.
IGO also felicitated Sri Bikash Acharya and Sri Rakesh Deep;ankar, Geologists from GSI Odisha for being selected for the prestigious Geosciences Award for 2022.
